I haven't got these books, but i started this thread so that we could talk about them. All i know is that they are a 12 book set about the history of middle earth. Would anyone who has these books care to talk about them?

*Raises hand* Me, Me, ME!
I've got two of them. They tell you about how Tolkien got to the finalised story. In te two I've got they say that Strider is replaced by Trotter, an outsized hobbit, who helps the group of hobbits (it's different to the final group but I can't remember at this point in time). It's really weird.

I heard of them in a magazine. They sound pretty interesting. I'd like to get them. The two you have are good right Imbeglin?

They're okay, I dunno. There just.... weird. They are so different compared to the different story, you need to write down the names of the current characters, then trawl through the notes to find their names in the story, then read it.

Amras - It depends on how much you are willing to learn about Tolkien's works, and how much you want to go into the history behind the creation of the books (practically going into Tolkien's mind).

I am very willing to go into the mind of the great one. ;D I think i will get them then. They must be life to hard core Tolkien fans. (Like us al!) ;D

Yeah, but im not much for books, sure i like the odd one or two, but im not a Tolkien addict, believe it or not. Im not too concerned if i dont know much about Tolkiens works, cause i still enjoy his world that he created, his ideas and creations.
