((occ: this rp is based on the Battle of Sudden Flame. This battle takes plane in the 455th year since the coming of Fingolfin. In this battle, Morgoth breaks the siege of Angband. The battle involves a sudden flame attack, the great worm Glaurung, Barlogs, and lots of orcs. Since my profile doesn’t fit into this time, I will go by the name of Aikanáro Númenessë))
It was a cold winter night, and the moon did not show his face over the plains. Aikanáro Númenessë watched over the plains that stood before the fortress of Angband. The siege had lasted for some time, dragging on for years in a deadlock. It was beyond the power of the elves to destroy Morgoth’s fortress, and Morgoth had yet to break the siege. Aikanáro was a sentry in the army of King Finrod, who watched over the South. The sentry fire was starting to go out, so Aikanáro placed more wood on the flame. As the wood caught the fire, red glare burst out. Aikanáro wondered for a moment, surly such a small fire wouldn’t give off such a glare, then he looked at the plains. Fire was sweeping out of Angband. Aikanáro cried out in surprise and fear, “Awake, awake, foes, fire, awake!”

((ooc: nice! Finally something from the First Age. This'll be fun.))
Fëalossë Lissësúl breathed in the cool night air. He slowed his horse to a walk as he finished his patrol route and was returning to the fortress on Himring. The snow that had fallen just barely reached his horse's fetlocks and was still light and powdery. The whiteness of it entranced Fëalossë's heart, but then he noticed a slight reddish tinge on the snow. He looked back, and gulped. Still far off, rivers of fire criss-crossed the Ard-galen. But there were many warriors there...the Siege of Angband.. Then the implications of this sank in. Suddenly, with new urgency, he spurred his horse to a gallop toward Himring. Lord Maedhros must receive word of this.

((OOC: Sorry I've not posted on this Galdor my comp's been down for a while, I think I'll go by the name Lamalas Sáralondë))
Lamalas saw the fire on the plains and began running to Aikanáro, he must tell him about what he saw, he was about 100 yards off when he heard Aikanáro's cry, he ran right up to him and bowed his head slightly placing his hands in the prayer postition, "There are fire's on the plains Sir, I do not know the cause but I can find out or get a scout to if you wish." Lamalas did not look up and waited for Aikanáro's answer. Lamalas was a young elf who served Aikanáro, he was trained, fed, watered and even the clothes on his back were given to him by Aikanáro, he showed as much respect as possible and did as he was told. He was very skilled with a bow, he was the best shot of a bow on this side of the field well, thats what Aikanáro told him but he didn't know if this was just to boost his confidence or not, he was also a skilled healer, he had magic in his veins as his father was a half-elf (half-man) mage and his mother was a healer, he gained magic from them both but he did not know where his bow skills were from. He wondered if he would be sent out or not.

Aikanáro was about to answer an affirmative when his eyes caught a dreadful sight. “Nay Lamalas, there is no need. I can well enough our dire need. Behold! The worm Glaurung has left the gate of Angband. Alas, he is greater than when we last saw him. The ground shakes under his step. Lamalas send out runners to the other armies, they must be woken, or else they all will be take by sunrise” Aikanáro’s fear grew again when his keen eyes found Balrogs leaving the gates. He readied his bow, it would soon be very busy. He was glad to have Lamalas by his side, he was indeed a great shot with his bow. With time he may grow as great as Beleg, but first he must live through the night. The Barlogs seemed to be concentrating on the other armies of the Noldor, but a large force of orcs left the gates and approached the army of Lord Finrod. Aikanáro thought “By the Valar, I never thought that there were so many of them” and then it was time to rase his bow...

"At once Sir!" With that Lamala went to find runners to tell the other armies, he sent runners off to all the other armies and returned to Aikanáro, "I've....sent....runners to....the...others." Lamala was out of breath it took him a while to find a runner, there was nobody near by when he needed them, he looked for his bow and found it lying next to where he had been sitting earlier, he picked it up and waited for Aikanáro's orders....

((occ: you are all free to join, there is plenty of room to join in.))
Aikanáro told Lamala “Prepare for battle we shall have a long day in front of us” Aikanáro started to shoot his arrows, taking down orcs from long distances. 100 paces, 70, 50, 20, with each orc that he felled; there seamed to be 10 to take his place. Soon they were withed hailing distance, and Aikanáro prepared for close quarter combat. In the distance he saw great Mountain Trolls, and something that looked like wolfmen, but that was for latter the orcs were near. Aikanáro told Lamala “I am glad that you are here, but if you live out this day, I will have nothing more to teach you. May the Valar be with us.”

Lamalas raised his bow and took aim, he let a few arrows fly to get the feeling of the bow, he hadn't used it in days and it felt different, it was just as Lamalas was about to fire and he noticed it wasn't his bow, he missed his target and lowered his bow, where had it gone, it was there a while ago, he was sitting with it next to him, he looked at Aikanáro who had his sword drawn, he decided he would leave his bow and try a bit of close combat, he threw the bow to the ground and drew his longsword, it wobbled a bit when he raised it even though it was quite a light sword, Lamalas was NOT qualifyed in the close combat department and began to worry when he saw the oncoming orcs, his heart was beating faster by the second, he dropped the sword and scrambled around looking for the bow he threw on the ground, he picked it up and began to let loose his arrows, he wasn't ready for melee yet...

Riding like the wind on his back, Fëalossë reached the keep at the summit of Himring. Hurriedly dismounting, he ran to where Maedhros, son of Fëanor and a prince of the Noldor, was standing. Bowing quickly before his lord, Fëalossë said, "Milord, I sighted waves of fire on the Ard-galen. All the flame came from the north, from Angband I would think. I heard a far off roar as well as I was riding back. Dragons?" Maedhros was not hesitant, "This is a great trouble. Take as many riders as you can gather now and ride to help our brethren." Moving away, Maedhros began to organize the fortress for war. Fëalossë ran to the barracks and told the Elves within the problem. They quickly got their equipment and followed Fëalossë to the stables. Mounting, they galloped out of the gates of Himring.

Lamalas noticed an Elf further down the plains, he ran down to the Elf and grabbed the back of his top he pulled him up next to Aikanáro and dropped him, "Don't go out alone you could get killed!" Shouted Lamalas, he was gasping for breath, he looked up and the Orcs were almost upon them.....

The orcs were just about to reach the pair of elves when Aikanáro jumped in front of them and beheaded the first orc that came in his reach. The black mass covered the valley, the elves would be lucky if they were only outnumbered fifty to one. Orcs fell under Aikanáro’s blade, but there were always more. Lamalas held back a couple of steps, shooting quickly with his bow. Aikanáro drew his sword out of an orc stomach when a great hairy animal pounced on him, he saw the face of a great and terrible wolf, but Aikanáro sensed a foul spirit trapped inside its body. He raised his sword to defend himself...

Lamalas noticed the hairy man-beast, it was some sort of wolf, he saw it pounce towards Aikanáro, he took an arrow from his quiver and threw it at the beast, catching it in the eye, he had given Aikanáro a little bit of time...

Náin pulled himself up and brushed himself down tottaly ignoring the act that orcs were running about everywhere, his drew his bow and began to fire into the mass or orcs on the plains, he wasn't having much luck so he drew his thin long sword and began to fight with Aikanáro.
