It's official! Lord Of The Rings IS the UK's favourite novel. It beat off the likes of Pride And Prejudice by Jane Austen, His Dark Materials by Philip Pullman, The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy by Douglas Adams and Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire by JK Rowling. It pulled in 23% of the vote (174,000 votes). Next was Pride And Prejudice with 135,000 votes, third was His Dark Materials with 63,000 votes, fourth was The Hitchhiker's Guide To The Galaxy with 57,000 votes and fifth was Harry Potter And The Goblet Of Fire with 55,000 votes. yeah, hey wasnt JRR british, so it makes sense that in the UK it would be the favorite books. (OCC this girl in my chem class is obsessed with the LOTR movies, and then me and my freind were talking about the ROTK ending, and she went crazy because she did not want us to spoil her the movie, eventhough the books have been out for like 50 years,lol)

Well it is pretty obvious that Lord of The Rings collection would be no. 1 best novel, i could have put my life savings on it coming first, the books rock.

lol. I hate it how some people think that they are total LOTR fans just because they have seen the movies. I totally agree. How can you call yourself a total fan if you've never even read the books that the movies are based on? I have to say the movies are quite good for the most part, but they barely scratch the surface of Tolkien's works, theres no way they could cover everything in a movie, they're already 3 hours long!

I agree with Beren. Tolkiens works are to big for 3 + hours. I hate people like that.
