I think there are going to be bow swords and special weapons like spears etc., for our race. If elves do get to have magic then there's a possibility we'll have staffs.

Oh, theres probably no doubt that the Elves would be able to use magic. They are of course the most mystical and magical race ;D.
Mabye staffs could boost the stat that affects the magic skill.

yeah, it would be good to have a couple healers around during battle. Or it could help us like setting the enemy on fire or something.

Yeah, offensive magic would be very effective in battle. I wonder how much range they will have...

I wonder how much range they will have... It is more than likely that different spells have diffrent ranges. The problem would be that if you had a staff you wouldn't be fighting directley i mean a staff wouldn't do much damage compared to a sword on the frontlines. That would mean you would have to stand back but then you'd be out of range. Unless you had a spare sword or something like gandalf did...

Well, i was just thinking that some spells might be a sniper type spell. Like a lightening zappy thing which calls down a thunder bolt from the sky. And then other spells might be a self origionating effect, like an explosions that origionates from the caster.

Yeah, mabye like those gunpowder bombs used to destroy the helms deep wall in the films...
Anyway, i feel that the magicians iare going to be as much as an important class as any of the bowmen or swordsmen.

yeah, we would kill in battle with magic. Just think: You're on a mission with a couple of other members, suddenly a large group of orcs ambush you. Then you blow them all away with your magic (setting a couple on fire).

Yeah, but it does depend all on what type of magic we get. Just think about it, we never saw Gandalf in the movies conjure up an explosion or anything. The only form of aggresive magic we saw in the film was Arwen conjuring up a tidal wave to send away the Ring Wraiths.

Then summon a tidal wave to destroy the orcs!! ;D

Well, that is a possibiility...but there arn't always rivers around to sumon tidal waves from. There will probably be different element magics. Like summon a whirlwind with an air based spell. Or summon roots to grab the enemy with a grass based spell.

I am not so sure that they would have elemental magic, the game is supposed to be biased on the books, I think mainly The Hobbit because that is what they have rights for. The only aggressive magic I can think of is the tidal wave summoned by Elrond (his ring allowed him limited control of nature) and Galdalf setting pinecones on fire and throwing them at the Wargs. And what magic for elves is in it self ambiguous in the books. In FotR, Galadriel asked Sam what he meant by ‘elven magic’ because the common folk had trouble distinguishing between the magic of elves and the devises of the enemy.
