Oooops thought this was the chat thread on the off topic chat LOL! No I don't know where the name Lurtz, his name was in a book I read and there might be a bit on him in The Tolkien Encyclopidia, I'll check it out and get back to you on that, I'm a walkin talkin encyclopidia

It must be very handy to have oe of those. But Lurtze is a big mysterry to me. I like the way Pj made the Last alliance battle like a real battle. In the Sillmarillions appendix, it said that it was a seige. Youll have to get back on that and Lurtze with what you read in your encyclopeidia.

Does anyone know the origin of the Uruk-Hai? In the films Saruman "dug" them up. But i cant remember what how it was done in the books?

Hmm yes, if you dig out the orcs, then surely the dwarves in Moria must have had a problem building their mines.

The Two Towers didn’t say it directly, but the impression that I got was that Saruman bred the Man and Orc races together. The result was orcs who could withstand the sun and other corrupted human qualities, and humans who had and evil and orcish look about them. The southerner spy who was hiding with Bill Ferny in the Fellowship of the Ring.
