Yes i agree. As i get further through the book it gets more interesting. And yes the start is a bit boring. But it also does get more interesting.
But the book is quite good and and is a great source of Middle-Earth knowledge. A very good book.
Well it was by Tolkien. ;D

Yeah most things by Tolkien are very good ;D
Besides, a 12 hour plane journy is boring anyway,so i might as well take the silmarrillion for that. ;D

I voted for Return of the King because it’s my favorite. I like when the Dark Lord is worrying about Gondor, and the Frodo puts on the ring and he goes OOPS. I made a BIG mistake. Every time I read that part I start laughing

yeah, it was tough to single out the best Tolkien book, they're all so good! but I eventually went with Return of the King, I just love the battles in that book, the battle at Minas Tirith was great with Aragorn, Legolas, and Gimli coming in with the army of the dead, and also the battle at the Black Gate of Mordor was great, I always like when people sacrafice themselves for the greater good

Personally, I like the Silmarillion slightly more than the rest of Tolkien's masterpieces. The history is great, but with all the names, slightly confusing. But I love the glossary of names and appendix of elements in Elvish words/names. Great stuff.

Yeah that is a great bit of the Silmarillion. I am reading it now. It is great. A good point of all of Tolkiens works is that he includes the maps of ME.

Humm. ..this might take a while, but there were a number of thing and I might not get them all.
1. There were no elves at Helms Deep, this is the worst blunder. 2. Farimere did not take the hobbits to any city, he was not tempted by the ring, just about everything was changed about him. 3. No orc persued Mery and Pip into Fangorn 4. Treebeared did not think that the hobbits were orcs 5. The hobbits weren’t attacked by Old Man Willow here(expanded version0 6. The ents did decide to go to war at entmoot 7. Orcs do not come out of the mud 8. Eyomer was not banished, just impresiond 9. Eyomer faught at Helms Deep, did not ride in with the calvery 10. The calvery was led by Earkenbrand 11. Aragorn and Gimly did not jump/throws out of a secret door 12. The orcs that captured the hobbits was a mixed force of Saruman/Moria 13. The Shelob incedent was supposed to be there This all that I can think of, there might be more that I can’t remember at the moment. (pardon my spelling, spell check isn't working for some reason)
